Art-Hub: Bridging Perception and Experience
Providing a collaborative platform for contemporary Pakistani artists to break down barriers between diverse art forms and create opportunities for artistic exploration and innovation.

To facilitate the growth of contemporary art in Pakistan, artists need a platform to freely share their creative ideas and collaborate without constraints, breaking the barriers between different art forms and express themselves. This undergraduate thesis aims to provide a collaborative platform for contemporary Pakistani artists to not only break down barriers between diverse art forms but also to create opportunities for artistic exploration and innovation. Contemporary artists, consciously or unconsciously, incorporate principles of perception into their work, to enhance the interaction between the artwork and the viewer to create experience. These principles help people perceive and interpret the information influenced by emotions.

Perception is the foundational process by which sensory data is gathered and organized, and it leads to experience by allowing to make sense of the world, interpret meaning, and emotionally engage with surroundings. The objective is to reflect principles of perception in architectural compositions to create an experiential journey, providing a physical space where artists not only encourage artistic expression but also reflect the ways in which artists tend to engage viewers with art and stimulate their perception which leads to experience by allowing to make sense of the world, interpret meaning, and emotionally engage with surroundings.

The project is situated in a public-focused context, which is near the Expo Centre and Emporium Mall. Here, it can thrive as a visible space. The design strategies investigate materiality and temporal elements to create a layered, multi-level space. The central concept is a perceptual exchange between foreground and background, achieved by designing from different vantage points. This creates shifting focal points, allowing the experience of space to change based on movement and perspective. The spatial configuration is derived directly from these functional and experiential requirements, developing an interconnected and layered environment.
