OrbiCaffe
OrbiCaffe is a design exercise inspired by bio mimicry and bio philic design.

OrbiCaffe was a design exercise inspired by bio mimicry and bio-philic design. The speculative design process involved extracting characteristics of a natural phenomenon, in this case a sea angel, and utilizing it to create a tabletop coffee dispenser inspired by aspects of the creature’s design. Sea angels have a gelatinous, streamlined body that is almost entirely transparent, sometimes with a slight pink or orange hue. They have wing-like appendages called parapodia, which they use to "fly" through the water in a graceful, fluttering motion. Most sea angels are small, typically only a few centimeters long, though sizes can vary. Under certain conditions, their translucent bodies can give them a faint glow, adding to their angelic appearance. These characteristics were studied and used as a basis for the shape, texture and form of the coffee dispenser. Overall, OrbiCaffe is a very round, fluid and organic dispenser, forever in a state of transcendence that mimics its natural counterparts’ movements in the ocean. While aesthetics is the core focus of the exercise, the utility and functionality were not compromised, as the appliance still holds an intuitive form of a coffee dispenser, easily recognized by its foam maker, potholder and of course dispensing area.
